Hello from Montreal - a wonderful introduction to a fascinating city only

Despite the fact that Montreal is one of the nearest town and accessible from Toronto, I had actually only once there for a few days a decade ago. We also stop for lunch in a couple of times in Montreal on the way home from our ski outings in the East, Vermont and New Hampshire. But I knew Montreal deserves a much longer visit. So I began to plan a long weekend of four days over the Canada Day celebrations in this city to explore.

Both TourismeMontreal and Quebec tourism were extremely useful tips, things to see and do, and I started really looking forward to my urban explorations. 29 June 2006, I drove off in the comfort of a first class Via Rail train - no traffic, no stress, just a way to relax. After a journey through the idyllic green landscape of Ontario, Quebec and entered shortly after I arrived in Montreal Gare Centrale. After check-in at my position The Central Hotelput my first personal encounter with Montreal, a sightseeing with a personal guide, I had a great idea of the country. We visited all important places in Montreal and had a delicious lunch at a popular French bistro. After several hours of research I had a complete overview of the city and was a walk through Old Montreal ready. On my first evening I also enjoyed a memorable evening with jazz music in the background Modave ahistoric restaurant in Vieux Montreal. My knowledge of Old Montreal and the first French settlers better understanding of the consequence of the capture of Old Montreal Ghost Tour, which brought me close to some interesting characters in the history of Montreal.

The second day led me to discover the architectural treasures of Old Montreal and our local tour guide Louis impressed by our group with his knowledge of social history and architecture (which extends far beyond Montreal). Stimulatedthrough this educational tour I had a tasty lunch at the Cafe du Château, and also a great storm unleashed its fury, I decided, the Chateau du Ramezay, a museum with exhibits from various more than 350 years of history from Montreal to explore . In the evening I took a stroll through the beautiful Latin Quarter, and finally decided on a very satisfying dinner at La Iguana, a major Mexican restaurants in Montreal, where I had the opportunityChat with the owner and find out what's happening this restaurant. A day of exploration has been limited for a walk along Via St. Catharines with a look at the Montreal Jazz Festival - the largest festival of its kind in the world and attracts hundreds of thousands of people every year.

A passionate cyclist, I was glad when I stop the bike in place after our tour ended and I was still in my own bike on the vast network of paths along the Lachine Canal. I enjoyed lunch at a reactivation of the historic Marché Atwater and had a good chat with a local. After Ireturned my bike, I sat down and spoke with the owner of the bike shop Ça Roule on its terms and cycling opportunities to Montreal.

All this movement has inspired my appetite and I've enjoyed a nice dinner at Galiano is located in heart of Old Montreal, and the owner gave me a first hand this historic and famous restaurant. The streets of Montreal were just absolutely packed with revelers. The Old Port of Montreal was bustling withActivities, concerts, street performers, a huge area of entertainment for children including acrobatics on skis included. The highlight of the evening was a concert that a large number of flamenco artists, Cuban percussion and rhythms of Brazilian music on another world. Lastly, the star of the show appeared: Charles Gregory, a versatile singer, pianist, character actor and the media. The audience just went nuts and kept thousands of people streaming in Old Montreal, including 11Clock at night. This city knows how to party!

My third day in Montreal was a bit 'quieter. I started with the exploration of the Olympic Stadium and took the funicular to the top of the world's tallest inclined tower. Then I explored the house insect creatures and a variety of flowers, plants and trees at the Montreal Botanical Garden. In the middle of the afternoon I took a guide to hiking, Jean Talon Market in Italy district of Montreal and followed by a delicious lateLunch at Mañana, a Mexican restaurant right opposite the beautiful square of St. Louis. In my neighborhood talking with the owner, I felt a warm heart, inspiring simple story, an immigrant, Mann Peruvian language since he came to Canada with any French or English skills difficult, owner of a restaurant in the popular Montreal's Entertainment one. I had a little 'more time to get to the park where I connect with other out-of-town travelers and explored the Relaxationbeautiful area around the historical square of St. Louis.

My evening program was also be packed: I explore the Casino de Montreal, located on an island in the St. Lawrence River.
